The Masterplan to revitalise Gosford city centre has not yet been launched and already Gosford City Council has seen presentations for developments by two local landowners.
Commercial HQ, owners of a significant piece of land bordering Baker Street, Donnison Street and Mann Street, have suggested a plan to develop their site to provide a ’smart quarter’ in the city with the regional library a key anchor tenant for this development.
The second landowner is Central Coast Leagues’ Club. ”We have been working with The Gosford Challenge since it began and we think our site is the right site for Gosford’s Performing Arts Centre.” said Belinda Suann, Business Development Manager Central Coast Leagues Club.
The proposed site of Gosford Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) is in the entertainment precinct identified in the Our City, Our Destiny Masterplan for Gosford city centre. The GPAC will look across newly landscaped parkland to Brisbane Water and is designed to activate Baker St and link the city to its waterfront. Read Central Coast Leagues’ Club press release here.
The Gosford Challenge has always been about real projects said Director City Centre Development Colleen Worthy-Jennings.
“Both of these ideas are in keeping with our city’s Masterplan. Either one of them could kick start the revitalisation of Gosford, and combined together with the extension of Baker Street through the park to the water, it’s very exciting.
“First things first though, we need to ensure this makes sound business sense and investigate the feasibility of both these concepts.”
